"When in Doubt . . . "

Greetings,

It's not quite the ubiquitous 'rainy days and Mondays' around here today.  But, I could certainly use a bright little pick-me-up just about now on the busy Monday afternoon.

And nothing does that quite as well as these luscious images from James and Whitney Fairchild's home in the Hamptons - featured in the June 2004 issue of House and Garden.  God I miss this magazine.  Seriously.  And, yes, I still have my original copy of this issue.  In the exclusive stack of magazines.  Right where I can find it.

If you're having a typical Monday - and need a few moments of relaxation - please.  peruse.  and enjoy.

Better,
Scot

I miss House and Garden as well. I've still got a certain number of favorites, but had to drastically pare down my HGs (and others) when I moved to a place w/o a basement.

It was amazing to me that House and Garden folded but AD survived.

Those temple vases made my day; I remember that article. I miss H and G, too. And now, ...a moment of silence,...for H and G,.....and Conway Twitty. ( light your lighter here).

Poor Monday always getting the bums rap. I love the kitchen image, something about "wicah" as they say here in NY.

Oh, this is perfectly timed! Have been thinking lately that my just left of traditional decor may be a bit tired. Yeay! I have the same palate of pale yellow, blue & white, touches of black here and there, as the Fairchild's. As well as sage green.
Love your site! Thank you for taking the time. Blessings.

Good lord Scot, this space is stunning, I always fall in love with any space with (what appears to be) an authentic Federal Bullseye mirror. These images are definitely being copied into my inspiration folder. I would love to get a project like this.
I miss the magazine too.
This home is stunning. Timeless. Classic. Could be in Veranda right now.
Thanks for sharing this oldie but goodie.

This is HANDS DOWN one of my favorites. I can picture them on the cover right now. I too have it in my stack of favorites. Sigh...
Grant - isn't it crazy when all you have to see is the cover of a magazine to remember its contents!

Scot,
As an eternal optimist but I've been feeling blue lately about stores closing (Pierre Deux), magazines leaving (Southern Accents, Home and Garden) and so many lovely antique stores (in my neck of the woods) clothing...thanks for giving me a little encouragement with images that are timeless and wonderful.

Scot: Beautiful home! Do you recall both House & Garden and House Beautiful in the 60's and 70's? Both magazines offered great ideas and photos! Go back further with H&G and it still could be used today. I miss it too--wish I had kept my copies.
Made my day! Especially love the table in the kitchen. So cozy and comfy!

Thank you, I needed that today. Really pretty, comfortable rooms. House and Garden was always about beauty and sense. Miss that...
You made my "Tuesday" with these gorgeous, elegant images.

Scot, I too still have my original copy of this magazine. I remember purchasing it because I first fell in love with the cover shot of the Fairchild home. Once I opened it and saw all of the lovely rooms I could never toss it. Even after 8 years I still open it and get inspiration from it. Thanks for sharing!!! Dawn
